Haegel

The Rune Haegel is a rune of elemental destruction, of change on a massive level and the convergence of violent forces. Considered by runic scholars to be the most destructive of all the Runes, Haegel was used by Eredil Lantradi to destroy the city of Throntor during the Fifty Year Siege; the result was the slaughter of every living thing in a 50-mile radius and the creation of the Crystal Sea in its place. Most recorded uses of the Rune are significantly less violent and include the summoning of natural disasters such as floods, storms, earthquakes and so forth in a far more localized area. It is believed that Eredil's desperation was a key factor in the extent of the destruction at Throntor.
