Throntor

From Codex Vocrotha

What is Throntor

Throntor is a Kâlindur-wrought city; though it is not one of the original nine made by them during their Golden Reign, its construction is unique and, after its destruction, has been completely unreproduceable using any known construction techniques. Situated against the sharp cliffs of Gan Mountain, Throntor's crystalline Adamantite gates and mammoth walls were proof against any attack until the siege of the Warlord, Paldor Daln.

How the city is situated

Throntor occupied an extremely well-defended position at the base of Mt. Gan; its great, all-encompassing circular wall fused, in the west, directly into the eastern cliffs of the solitary mountain, providing water, room for crops, and an impregnable defense against attackers. Inside the circular wall, the city was broken into six separate districts, each individually walled and each themselves the size of a small city. Each district was built behind the next as they slowly climbed the lower slopes of the mountain until the Lord's Spire was reached, the district where the Emperor, his personal guard and a place for the Council of Seven to meet. The land between the primary city wall and each of the district walls became the site of farms and marketplaces.

Deep in the side of the mountain, the Warrens of Throntor provided a place for the Emperor to experiment with deep magics. Some of the most amazing, deadly and dangerous magical works of all time were created in the Warrens -- some of which, it is said, may still lie imprisoned there.

When the city stood

Throntor stood from its creation in 2725 DR until its destruction in 3752 DR; the only force that could have possibly levelled the city, one of the Runes, Haegel, was wielded by the Throntorian Emperor, Eredil Lantradi, against the Warlord in a final conflict that not only destroyed Throntor, its attackers and defenders, but fused the surrounding countryside into the deadly and uninhabitable Crystal Sea.
